An Old-Fashioned, Griswold Family Christmas

A few days before Christmas, a squirrel had built a nest in our chimney. While we were gone Christmas Day, one of her babies fell into the fireplace and she apparently decided she’d better come in after it. When we got home it was obvious she had gotten out of the fireplace and had been running all over the house peeing and pooping on everything. After about half an hour we found it behind a dresser in the bedroom. We all put on the appropriate squirrel chasing gear (gloves, coat, face mask) and tried to shoo it out with a broom into a pillowcase I was holding. It ended up running around the room while I screamed and finally hid behind the dresser again. Finally we opened the window and when we pushed it out again it jumped out the second floor window to the ground and ran away. I spent the rest of the night cleaning.
