Now Hiring Accountant
The Accountant/Bookkeeper is responsible for completion and maintenance of the general ledgers and financial reports. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures in the accounting field.
Reports To: President
Status: Part-time (30-35 hours)
Primary Responsibilities for this position include the following, others may be assigned as needed:
- Works closely with the President to aggressively pursue new ways to enhance overall agency profitability.
- Works with senior staff to ensure profitability. Interprets budgets to leadership.
- Advises leadership on matters, such as effective use of resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
- Prepares a yearly budget and subsequent monthly comparisons for analysis.
- Prepares monthly financials for the President, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and comparisons.
- Prepare weekly invoices and statements for delinquent accounts.
- Prepares and issues bi-monthly employee payroll & profit-sharing
- Prepares weekly reports for management (i.e. Job Cost, Productivity, etc.)
- Prepares other reports as needed by the President
- Prepares accounts payables and checks for signing.
- Issues 1009’s to qualified vendors annually.
- Maintains and reconciles business checking and payroll banking accounts, line of credit and credit card accounts.
- Prepares and submits monthly sales tax.
- Experienced in various software programs with an aptitude for learning agency software programs.
- Works closely with agency’s CPA to produce year-end reports for tax purposes.
- Monitors Agency cash flow and apprises President.
- Maintains postage meter.
- Assists with phone reception when necessary.
- Staff liaison with Clients & Profits. Responsible for Agency’s database.
Qualifications
Employee should possess innate business sense and accounting skills.
Credentials and Experience
Employee should have a 4-year degree in Accounting or an equivalent in business-related experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Employee may lead and direct the work of others in the Agency.
Work Environment
The employee will be issued software and a workstation, which will include, but not be limited to a computer, monitor, calculator and e-mail access.
Physical Demands
Employee may be asked to travel offsite to meet with clients, vendors or media in order to complete client work.
