The Senior Designer must possess superior visual conceptual skills and a knowledge of media requirements/ terminology and vendor requirements/capabilities. The depth of the position demands qualifications developed over a minimum of five to seven years of related projects in both traditional and interactive/web experience. 

Primary Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Helps establish and maintain the highest possible reproduction standards for all video, interactive/web, print, outdoor, audio/visual, and collateral materials the agency produces.
  • Monitors the quality of finished artwork and conceptual materials produced internally or by freelance artists.
  • Collaborates with the VP | Creative on department business, including all creative and technical issues and requirements (hardware and software needs, upgrades, training, etc.).
  • Ensures efficient visual execution of creative concepts assigned by VP | Creative.
  • Consults with the Creative Team and account service personnel as necessary to achieve agency objectives.
  • Implements marketing strategies using appropriately selected tools and platforms.
  • Observes agency consensus in producing client presentation materials, either conceptual or finished art. 
  • Examines and approves finished art and conceptual material and makes alterations and corrections.
  • Collaborates with Creative Team to maintain a list of available freelance artists, photographers, and other contributory talents.
  • May recommend and direct freelance contributors.
  • May recommend and direct photographers and talent at photo sessions.
  • Oversees specification of typestyle/font, color, photography, illustration, and paper stock; inspects and approves vendor pre-press and press proofs.
  • Provides press-side inspection of print runs by creative personnel when required (arranged in conjunction with the production department).
  • Engages in any personal development necessary to stay current in advertising techniques, standards, and research activity required to become more familiar with clients’ businesses. Research and present project-related findings to develop long-term goals.
  • Meets established deadlines or provides reasonable notice to the Production Manager of exceptional circumstances requiring deadline extension.
  • Schedule, create, and manage project timelines and to-dos using project management apps.
  • Liaises with VP | Creative in assigning overtime necessary to meet any overload demand.
  • Inventories any supplies related to the performance of design duties; notifies the Production Manager of necessary reorders.
  • Maintains internal digital file backups for in-progress jobs; uploads completed project files to the agency file server.
  • Performs occasional additional duties as deemed appropriate by the VP | Creative.
